Selena Gomez better watch out because Nickelodeon's Ariana Grande is a serious problem.
The 20 year-old singer, musician and actress stunned the masses this past March with her debut single "The Way." Penned by Jordan Sparks, the single propelled its' way into the Top 40 with the assistance of Pittsburgh rapper Mac Miller.
Since then the single has been certified platinum, which gave her record label Republic, the greenlight to release her new single "Right There."
The track sounds very familiar as it samples The Jeff Lorber Fusion's "Rain Dance," the same song for which Lil Kim sampled for her 90's smash "Crush On You."
Produced by Harmony Samuels, "Right There" will appear on her forthcoming debut studio effort Yours Truly for which Ariana describes as being influenced by Whitney Houston, Christina Aguilera, and Mariah Carey. Basically she's coming for the untouchable crown that both Aguilera and Carey once held.
"[Fans] can expect a lot of honesty. It's like a direct... you know, it's like it used to be pages from my diary, instead of keeping diary, I would write songs about what was happening in my life. So it's really personal. It's a Motown throwback and pop at the same time, so it's '50s and '60s inspiration mixed with today." The 13-track album will crash retailers on September 3.
Now all I need is for her to leave 'Sam And Cat' so she can become slutty like the rest of them and promote this album properly.
