Isyss, an acronym for " Intelligent Sexy Young Soul Sisters," was once one of the most promising female groups in urban music. The group consisted of LeTecia Harrison, Ardena Clark, La'Miya Good (actress Megan Good's sister), and of course Quierra Davis-Martin.

The group achieved moderate success back in 2002 with their debut album The Way We Do,  led by the singles "Day & Night," and "Single For The Rest of My Life." Fans could not get enough of their undeniable beauty, as well as the soaring vocals of lead singer Quierra, a classically trained opera singer. The group recorded a song for the short-lived BET series Oh Drama, and were nominated for two Soul Train Lady of Soul Awards, taking home one. They had several endorsement deals, but unfortunately were dropped by Arista records after a merger.

Lead singer Quierra Davis-Martin, discussed the breakup of the group with YouKnowIGotSoul:

"...we recorded an entire second album. We did the album with Bryan-Michael Cox who is an amazing producer and it was supposed to be released. Around that time, Arista was doing the whole merger thing and L.A. Reid went over to Def Jam and the major artists that were signed to the same label we were on like Usher, Pink and Avril Lavigne, they went over to Jive and J Records. Arista folded and most of the smaller acts were dropped from the label. Right after that, we felt like we wanted to continue to pursue being in a group together, but Ardena, who was one of our members, she had a change of heart and she wanted to go into politics. So because of that, that was another reason why we had to call it quits."

The group added "Love" to replace Ardena, but eventually disbanded due to creative differences. Years later La'Miya and Love formed a new group, Bad Gyrl before La'Miya ventured out on her own in 2012 with the single "Graduate Me," featuring YMCMB rapper Tyga.

Quierra, currently signed to OMG/Fontana/Universal, is working on her EP Melodic Seduction. She released the title-track back in October, right after the visuals for her covers of "Pink Matter" and "Feelin It."

Take a trip back to 2002, when girl groups were still huge, after the break.
