During the 90's you could not turn on your radio without hearing the "Sisters With Voices," SWV. Cheryl "Coko" Clemens, Leanne "LeLee" Lyons, and Tamara "Taj" Johnson-George dominated Billboard with classics such as "Right Here/Human Nature,""I'm So Into You,""Anything,""You're the One,""Weak," and countless others until their split in 98'.
The group's golden-voiced lead singer Coko went on to pursue a solo career, but did not fair so well. She went back to her roots and released her first gospel album Grateful in 2006, followed by its 2009 followup The Winner In Me.
Last year SWV returned with a new album I Missed Us. The album went straight to #1 on the iTunes R&B albums chart. A year later they are still together and joining the likes of The Braxtons and gospel group Mary Mary on WE TV for their own reality show. According to the networks' senior vice president of original production and development, Lauren Gellert:
"These dynamic women experienced enormous success together, then it all fell apart. United again, the stakes are higher than ever, and so – at times – is the drama and tension. We can’t wait to present this fresh, new series to WE tv viewers."In this teaser, Coko, Taj and Lelee reunite once again in this new WEtv reality series. Despite their excitement to be together again, the members of SWV still wrestle with the same interpersonal issues that split them apart in the first place. Coko tells Taj that she’s felt the need to put a wall up between them for 20 years. Taj and Lelee discover that Coko has breast cancer. The group flirts with the idea of a new manager, upsetting their current one. The reality show premieres January 23, 2013.
