During the 90's you could not turn on your radio without hearing the "Sisters With Voices," SWV. Cheryl "Coko" Clemens, Leanne "LeLee" Lyons, and Tamara "Taj" Johnson-George dominated Billboard with classics such as "Right Here/Human Nature,""I'm So Into You,""Anything,""You're the One,""Weak," and countless others until their split in 98'.
The group's golden-voiced lead singer Coko went on to pursue a solo career, but did not fair so well. She went back to her roots and released her first gospel album Grateful in 2006, followed by its 2009 followup The Winner In Me.
Last year SWV returned with a new album I Missed Us. The album went straight to #1 on the iTunes R&B albums chart. A year later they are still together and joining the likes of The Braxtons and gospel group Mary Mary on WE TV for their own reality show. According to the networks' senior vice president of original production and development, Lauren Gellert:
"These dynamic women experienced enormous success together, then it all fell apart. United again, the stakes are higher than ever, and so – at times – is the drama and tension. We can’t wait to present this fresh, new series to WE tv viewers."In this teaser, On SWV Reunited, Leelee, Coko and Taj talk to viewers about falling out with each other after their popularity peaked. Afte Leelee admits to living in her car after the group broke up in the 1990s. Taj says she was forced to sell her house in order to survive. Coko speaks on putting out solo albums, but not having much success with them. The ladies discuss coming back together, enjoying renewed success in 2013, and going on tour for the first time in over a decade. Each of them speaks with family members before going on tour. During practice, Taj takes issue with Coko’s friend and the group’s manager, Cory, for being disorganized. Taj and Leelee speak privately about hiring a replacement. Coko lets Cory in on her secret.The reality show premieres January 23, 2013.
