Let's face it, as men we are just as vain as our female counterparts, and when it comes to losing our hair, we dread it just as much. The hair restoration business is huge, with there being so many options out there for men who refuse to live decades without having their almighty covering.
One of the most recent hair restoration techniques is Scalp Pigmentation, which according to His Hair Clinic, specializes a pretty innovating procedure. It is "...an application that is applied directly to the scalp to replicate the natural appearance of real hair follicles. Scalp Pigmentation MHT is widely regarded as the most advanced treatment of its kind available in the world today, using pigments and application methods that are specifically designed to create the most realistic illusion of hair possible."

While the results are seemingly flawless, and look way better than having Black Ice spray dripping down your face, revealing that receding hairline; little is known about how it will hold up as one ages. And another reality is that most men who have the procedure done have to have it redone every ten-to-fifteen years.
Instead of dealing with all of that, why not just go bald? If you believe the media, hair advertisements, and the thoughts of friends, family, and strangers, hair represents youth, health, and beauty. Vanity is one of the main reasons why men refuse to go bald, because we think that if we shave it all off, we will no longer be attractive, and it's an ideal that has been placed upon us by mass media. Rarely do you see bald men playing the leading roles of love interest in movies, and even when you look at the lineup of Presidents, none of them have been bald.
Going bald not only involves a physical change, but it also takes a huge dig at our psych. When a man goes bald he may often feel inferior, as though he's done something wrong to warrant him losing his hair prematurely. The key to overcoming that shame is to recognize it, live with it through self acceptance, and to continue being proud of who we are as men, not defined by the fragile follicles on our scalp. When trying to overcome shame it is important to get those shameful feelings out whether verbally, or writing them down, the key is to get them out of your mind, not internalize them, and let them fester until they become a part of what you believe to be true.
One of the worst things a man can do is try to hold onto his hair when it is clearly running away from his eyebrows. When a man refuses to let go of his hair, by spray painting his scalp, it reveals that he is lacking in self-confidence. Contrary to popular belief going bald exudes confidence, and nothing is more attractive than someone who is comfortable in looking the way God intended for them to look. The sooner a man comes to realize that it is his destiny, and embrace the look, the sooner he will grow into his new image, and begin to love it. I did it, and couldn't be happier. The dyes, gone, wondering if someone can tell if I was receding, obsolete, just as secure in my look as I was with a 360 wave pattern, you bet!
Boris Kodjoe, LL Cool J, Michael Jordan, Tyrese, Shemar Moore, Tyson Beckford, and Taye Diggs are
African American men who are changing the face of bald, by daring to shave it all off, and still managing to capture our attention as some of the sexiest men in Hollywood. In a recent survey 83% of women polled thought the bald look was sexy, compared to a dismal 16% who did not and I'm sure the same can be said for us gay and bisexual men.
So if you're ready look chic, stylish and always polished, let's begin the discussion of how to shave your head bald, and maintain the classic look:
- Shave everyday, usually in the shower or with a great shaving gel or cream.
- Always keep a fresh razor, African American men usually do better with 2-blade razors, as they prevent irritation and ingrown hairs.
- Always use a product that has tea tree oil in it to prevent razor bumps.
- If you so chose there are depilatories such as Black Magic Shave which work wonders, without causing razor bumps of ingrown hairs.
- Apply lotion with Aloe in it to keep scalp moisturized.
- Use sunscreen no matter what your skin tone, the skin on your scalp is extremely thin, and the most vulnerable to skin damage.
- Decide whether you want a matte finish or a shiny baldy.
- Be sure to maintain your eyebrows and facial hair, as when you are bald, your face really becomes more noticeable. If you have thin eyebrows, fill them in with a powder, or if they are light in color, dye them to make them more prominent.
- Work out. Nothing balances the initial shock of going bald, better than humongous bald-biceps that give your new shiner a run for its' money.
- Finally splurge or some stylish hats, now that you have no hair to worry about messing up, you can be styled from head to toe, literally.
