Teaser Ariana Grande "Baby I" music video

Ariana Grande released her debut album Yours Truly this past Tuesday, with sales projections predicting it to be a Billboard 200 smash! The young beauty who resembles another songstress during the earlier years of her career, is pushing forward with the next single from her LP, "Baby I."

In the teaser for the single, Ariana is giving us 1995 Mariah Carey right down to her denim shorts and white-cropped top. Can anyone say "Fantasy?"

"Baby I" is certainly one of my favorite cuts from the album in addition to the Big Sean assisted "Right There," "You'll Never Know," and "Better Left Unsaid."

Yours Truly is certainly an album filled with many magical moments, but the 20 year-old may want to start carving a lane of her own before she's seen as just a carbon copy of someone whose still the queen of the whistle. Just because you have a big voice, doesn't guarantee that you'll be around for long. Anyone remember Leona Lewis? Exactly!

WILL WILLIAMS TALKS INFERNO DR 2013 IN EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW WITH FUNKY DINEVA

It was supposed to be one of the biggest urban pride events of the summer, Inferno Dominican Republic. Scheduled to kick off last Thursday, on August 29th, the event was abruptly cancelled for reasons during that time, were unknown. Some guest had already arrived a day in advance on Wednesday, August 28th, to allow themselves time to get settled before the festivities. Upon arrival in Punta Cana, they were shocked when the transportation that was included in the package deal was not there to take them to The informed that there were no reservations on file for them at The Melia Caribe Tropical.

After being alerted without proper notice by Inferno's founder Will Williams, that Inferno Dominican
Darvin Will Williams of Inferno
Republic 2013 was cancelled, many of the patrons who planned on attending wondered what would become of the situation? Would they receive a refund? How? When? And what events were going on behind the scenes that caused the demise of one of this summers' most anticipated gay pride events?

Now in an exclusive interview with Funky Dineva, Will Williams, Darvin Williams, whatever you choose to call him, explains why the event was cancelled. He also reveals the exact moment when he knew that Inferno D.R. 2013 was not going to commence, addresses the rumors of him being in "hiding," people's perception of him being a shady businessman, and more.

FUNKY DINEVA: CAN YOU GIVE A DETAILED ACCOUNT OF WHAT ULTIMATELY HAPPEN THAT LED TO THE CANCELLATION OF INFERNO DR 2013?

WILL WILLIAMS: In a nutshell, the Melia decided at the very last minute that they would not move forward with Inferno DR even though the hotel had been paid hundreds of thousands of dollars in advance by our team. On the advice of my legal counsel, that’s about all that I can say at this point.

FD:WITH THE HOTEL REPORTING THE NECESSARY PAYMENTS NEEDED HAD NOT BEEN SECURED SOME TIME AGO, WHY DID THE CANCELLATION NOTICE COME AT THE 11TH HOUR?

WW: Until the 11th hour, we continued to work on an addendum to hash out contractual issues. With a 5-year history with this resort, I felt confident that we would be able to move forward. As a normal part of doing business, disputes and issues arise during contract negotiations. This has happened in previous years, with each side, Inferno DR and the Melia, taking exception with certain items raised in negotiations. However, in previous years we were always able to come to a formal agreement prior to the event. It was not until the hotel began charging guests that arrived early that I realized the situation was beyond resolution.

FD: AT WHAT POINT DID YOU KNOW THAT YOU WOULD HAVE TO CANCEL INFERNO?

WW: Wednesday, August 28, just moments before the cancellation notice was sent out. Inferno DR is the oldest of all the Inferno events and the only one marketed to the Black community. It is has been my baby. I would never do anything to harm or destroy it. I can attend Inferno Puerto Rico and go unnoticed. I can walk through an event in Montreal for Inferno Canada and no one knows who I am. With three annual international events, why would I intentionally destroy the one event where almost all of the attendees know me? More so, why would I destroy Inferno DR the very year my face is on the ad campaign? I just wouldn’t do that. I couldn’t. Furthermore, the attendees of Inferno DR are my friends. I know them and I care about them. At no time before August 28 did I think this would happen. I feel horrible about what occurred and I am sincerely doing all that I can to rectify the situation.

FD: WHERE WERE YOU?

WW: Before, during, and after the cancellation, the Inferno Dominican Republic team and I were at the company offices in Miami first trying to avert the crisis, then trying to manage it and we are still here trying to resolve it. Any rumors that I was anywhere but in our office are false and misleading.

FD: FROM THE OUTSIDE LOOKING IN, DO YOU UNDERSTAND HOW THIS SITUATION LOOKS AND WHY SOME PEOPLE ARE NOW CONSIDERING [YOU] A SHADY BUSINESSMAN AND A THIEF?

WW: Absolutely I do and I don’t blame them. However, looking at it from the inside, I know that that is not at all true. I have heard it reported that the hotel cancelled the event months ago and sent guests emails stating that Inferno never confirmed reservations. If that were true, how did the hotel have welcome packets ready for every Inferno guest along with all of the decorations, dancers, djs, bartenders, staff, dance floors, security, meals, and alcohol for scheduled events? The answer is easy. It simply is NOT true.

FD: WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS ON THE FACT THAT MANY PEOPLE FEEL THAT AS A RESULT OF INFERNO DR 2013, YOU HAVE DAMAGED THE CREDIBILITY OF BLACK GAY EVENT PROMOTERS AND THE PUBLIC'S WILLINGNESS TO TRUST THEM?

WW: That is a very real and heart-breaking reality and one that I regret. As a member of this community, I have heard about the mishaps of other events and the misfortunes that beset the travelers. Some of the comments that are most painful to me are those where patrons state that this has happened to them before. I want people to know that although this has happened, things were set up to minimize damage as much as possible. Inferno Dominican Republic and Worldwide Travel Partners are two separate companies, each with its own function, duties, employees, etc. Inferno Dominican Republic is in effect a tour operator responsible for setting up the event, booking talent, and all of the organization and logistics on the ground in the DR. Inferno contracts with Worldwide Travel to handle all customer calls, flight arrangements, and other service details. This was done intentionally because as a full service agency, Worldwide is able to sell airline tickets and travel insurance. These are things that a simple event or tour operator, including Inferno Dominican Republic, cannot do. Through the travel agency, Inferno Dominican Republic has been able to see to it that the clients are covered. I know of no other event that is doing this or has ever done this. So while this unfortunate cancellation of the event has occurred, we do have a pathway to recovery for our clients. I believe this is a step in the right direction and would encourage all tour operators of Black LGBT events to partner with an agency that they trust.

FD: WHAT IS IT THAT YOU WANT THE PEOPLE TO KNOW?

WW: I am accountable and I care. I care about the lives of everyone affected. I care about the reputation of both Inferno Dominican Republic and Worldwide Travel Partners. I care about the effect this will have on the Black LGBT travel industry. While I may not be having a chat with every blogger or putting out press releases every other hour, please know that I am doing everything in my power to get this resolved.

DWIGHT POWELL, CEO OF SIZZLE MIAMI TALKS INFERNO DR, AND WILL WILLIAMS INTERVIEW WITH FUNKY DINEVA

The cancellation of Inferno Dominican Republic 2013 has everyone up in arms, including the CEO of Sizzle Miami, Dwight Powell.

The day after it was announced that Inferno had been cancelled, Powell took to his Facebook page and posted the following message, "Until He Speaks - This Is From All Event Planners & Promoters Doing Right By Our Customers. We all hope that this is corrected to the satisfaction of all affected. Myself included. Please, no event comparisons as we're all negatively affected." In addition to that statement, he posted the following photo.

Shortly thereafter, Powell had gotten word that Will Williams' first initial statement had been released through celebrity blogger B. Scott's, rather than posted on the official Inferno fan page:
"If this is really EXCLUSIVE to B.Scott I would say that the patron have been again, insulted to the very end. I at least expected to see this on the official Inferno Fan Page. Now I'm really pissed - PR please... anyone!"
Will Williams of Inferno
In an interview with Funky Dineva, Williams addressed Powell's criticism of him stating, "In my opinion, it is wholly irresponsible for other promoters to use this unfortunate situation with Inferno DR to drum up business and support for their own events, especially considering that collectively we offer special events and other activities for our small, yet growing community. There are opportunities for all of us to cater to our community and to work together to increase the number of events offered. Honestly, I didn’t expect such from others in my line of business."

Not impressed by Williams answers to the questions that everyone have been asking since the event was cancelled, Powell posted an open letter on his Facebook with his own list of questions:
To this day, I had not publicly commented on this issue but, rather like everyone, suggested that Will say something sooner than later. Word of the cancellation became news on the 28th of August, but unfortunately it took Will more than two days to respond to affected guests either on the island or en route. My insistence, along with dozens of other event planners, was merely suggesting that he address his customers as time was running out.

In Will’s interview, he suggested that I took inappropriate, cheap shots in attempts to enhance my brand of 12 years. Naturally, the comment bothered me quite a bit, especially since that’s not the case. Just yesterday, I spoke with Will through Lonnell Williams and cautioned that they not do the interview unless he could properly answer the questions brought on by so many on the Face Book page of Funky Dineva. Even then I expressed concerns that doing so would further hurt his brand. I have always been a huge supporter of Inferno DR. Given that our demographic is short on similar quality events, in no way do I see Inferno DR as a competitor or find their existence problematic. I am proud that Sizzle provided Inferno DR a huge platform to launch and showcased the brand 6 years at my event. A little known fact is that prior to the first year I, along with my partner Luis, took Will to dinner and taught him everything about our business event planning platform. Will is only one of dozens that I’ve assisted in their quest to offer quality experiences for the LGBT market. So no Will, cheap shots where not taken at you or your brand. I was very disappointed that you would handle your customers in such an irresponsible manner – that’s about it.

While I did have questions of my own that I never shared with anyone, I now find it necessary to pose them here. I found your replies not only insensitive, but also insulted the intelligence of those looking for honest answers. I cautioned you not to do the interview, because I knew that you would not property address the concerns of your customers. As a member of this industry, naturally my questions hit more at home as to why you did not need to do the interview. On that note, these are the question people really want answered.
 1. When was the event cancelled by the hotel? 2. Why were funds still being collected up to the week of the event if the hotel had cancelled the event in their August 2nd email to you? 3. Why were customers not given proper notification prior to the cancellation? 4. Why there weren’t any DR Inferno staff on-site to coordinate the pending inconvenience, given that traditionally you and most on your team are in DR days prior to the event? 5. Why weren't you there to help coordinate the confusion after it started? 6. When was the talent cancelled (most booked talent had other plans for that weekend)? 7. Insurance / Why would you suggest that people protect their trip with additional insurance when booking online if the company (Inferno DR) was already purchasing insurance for them. Why double insurance? 8. Is this type of cancellation covered in you policy? 9. How can we be assured that 150% of payments made will be available next year when 0-100% isn't available today? 10. What happened to the money customers sent in? 11. WHERE IS THE MONEY NOW?
You know what they say, opinions are like assholes, and everyone has one. With all of the patrons, bloggers, and members of the black community emailing, tweeting, and posting all sorts of negative things about Williams, I don't think Powell needed to add to the pile up.

Music's newest sensation, Ariana Grande has been winning over the hearts of many with her amazing voice and girl-next-door personality that are both reminiscent of one of her idols. The 20-year-old singer/actress released her debut album Yours Truly this past Tuesday, currently in battle with Tamar Braxton for the top spot. Ariana keeps the momentum going, with the premiere of the anticipated music video for her second single “Baby I.”

The fun-filled visual is reminiscent of the ’90s and early Mariah Carey, who the Florida native is most often compared to. Backed by a troupe of dancers, the pint size cutie rocks some daisy dukes and a cropped top while performing classic ’90s era moves. The all-day party goes from the streets to the roof to a house filled with props as the lovestruck beauty hits notes that some of these Billboard chicks could only dream of.

FRANK OCEAN MOCKS CHRIS BROWN WITH 'DOMESTIC VIOLENCE' T-SHIRT

If you thought the Chris Brown and Frank Ocean R&Beef was over, well Ocean has unleashed his inner queen, shading the hell out of troubled R&B singer.

Frank Ocean was recently depicted wearing a shirt that openly shames Chris Brown for his 2009 assault of Rihanna.

The feud began with a physical altercation at an L.A. studio. According to the official police report:
Suspect Brown, also a music artist, was parked in the victim's assigned parking spot at Westlake Recording Studios. He walked to Suspect Brown in the lobby of the studio and told Suspect Brown that he was parked in his parking spot. Suspect Brown extended his hand to the victim, however, the victim refused to shake Suspect Brown's hand and reiterated that Suspect Brown was parked in his spot. Suddenly, Suspect Brown punched the victim on the side of his face. Thereafter, Suspects Omololu and Glass jumped in to help Suspect Brown beat the victim. The victim fought back to defend himself as all three suspects pushed him into a corner and attempted to kick him while on the ground. The entire fight lasted 1 to 2 minutes. The victim believes he might have heard someone yell, "faggot!" but was unsure who, if anyone, made the statement. After the beating, Suspect Brown said, "We can bust on you too! "Bust" is a slang term used on the street to mean shoot. The three suspects left the studio in an unknown direction.
Although Ocean claimed he had since forgiven Brown for the unfortunate incident, it seems as though with a new album on the way, reigniting this beef would be the perfect promotional ploy. After all he can only "come out" once.

Ocean has continued his lyrical assaults against Brown with subliminal shots from on both his unconventional "Versace" freestyle, and his verse on Earl Sweatshirt's "Sunday."
"Forgot you don’t like it rough, I mean he called me a faggot/I was just calling his bluff/I mean how anal am I gon’ be when I’m aiming my gun, And why’s his mug all bloody, that was a three on one?"
Now, Ocean has come through yet again with a not-so-subliminal shot at Chris in the form of a T-Shirt.

A new photo of Frank depicts the Channel Orange crooner wearing a shirt that displays Brown's face, and reads “Wanted! Stop Domestic Violence”. The graphic is a clear reference to Chris' infamous 2009 assault of then-girlfriend Rihanna.

Continue reading for the shade of Ocean.

Last month Brown took his frustrations with the public's unwillingness to forgive him, something his victim has long since done.

Brown has yet to respond to the direct diss, but I'm sure he will...

RAPPERS GHOSTFACE KILLAH AND U-GOD TALK HIP-HOP AND THE LGBT COMMUNITY, OBAMA BEING A PUPPET FOR THE GAY AGENDA, "THEY'LL BLAME IT ON HIM, THE BLACK PRESIDENT"

As we gain more ground, reforming and forming new laws, the gay community seems to be looking for a more diverse, non-stereotypical representation of us in the media. The African-American community in particular, has seen an increase of public figures either proclaiming their sexuality or showing their support for the LGBT community.

Raven Symone, Jason Collins, Wanda Sykes, Don Lemon, Frank Ocean, 50 Cent, A$AP RockyCiara, Beyonce, Jay Z, Talib Kweli, Brendon Ayanbadejo, Kwame Harris, Wade DavisMagic Johnson, Senator Kelvin AtkinsonPresident Obama and countless other celebrities have either "come out" or shown their support for gay rights.

One of the sectors in Hollywood in which homosexuality has yet to find its' place is Hip-Hop. In 2011 rapper T.I. came under fire for defending comedian Tracy Morgan's anti-gay stand-up routine, calling it un-American to try and censor Morgan for speaking his mind during his shows.

"They're like, 'If you have an opinion against us, we're gonna shut you down,'" T.I. told Vibe. "That's not American. If you're gay you should have the right to be gay in peace." He went on to say, "If you're against it, you should also have the right to be against it in peace."

After receiving negative publicity for those comments and feeling that his statements were taken out of context T.I. delved further into his thoughts, "I believe you have the right to do whatever you want to do as long as you're not hurting anyone. I was quoted correctly, but I was taken out of context."

T.I. went on to say that, "[The U.S.] is an institution built around allowing us to speak peacefully and respectfully in opposition of any point or any topic that comes up." He also stated that he isn't against gay marriage.

Another rapper/reality television star The-Game shared his thoughts on LGBT and Hip-Hop in an interview with VLAD. "I think that there are several rappers that are in the closet and that are gay, and see those are the type of gay people, the only type of gay people that I have a problem with."

Game went on to reveal why he doesn't like closeted homosexuals, "The number one issue with that is that you can be fooling with somebody and you can give them AIDS...That "in the closet" shit is real scary, and it's not fair because that shit spreads because that girl that you might be fooling might leave you and go find another dude who ain't gay, give him the disease, and go cheats on her, so it's an ongoing thing."

"It ain't cool to be in the closet, so if you gay just say you gay, be gay and be proud." While I totally agree with his statements, it is clear that those words come from someone who has never had to face the truth of what coming out entails. Possibly being abandoned by your family, homelessness, ridicule, discrimination and so many other issues that many heterosexual people don't understand when it comes to disclosing your sexual orientation.

Now two rappers Ghonstface Killah and U-God are weighing in on homosexuals being in Hip-Hop, as well as Obama being a puppet for the "gay agenda."

“Obama’s just a puppet—he’s a puppet in a chair [...] People just voted him in because he’s black. They don’t even know why they were voting for him—whether he was right or wrong.” Speaking on specific policies, Ghostface says, “The gay marriage law—you think it’s fucked up? When he’s gone, they’ll blame it on him: the black president.

Meanwhile, when asked about the “gay rap scene,” Ghostface says, “I can’t knock gay rap, or retarded rap… whatever. Do what you do; I don’t really listen to it. I don’t really pay that no attention. Like I said, it’s not my cup of tea—to each his own. At the end of the day, we all people.”

U-God offers a similar response: “Personally, I don’t give a f–k if you’re gay. That’s your business. That’s your sexual preference. But don’t come over here and make me gay—you ain’t gonna force something on me, see? But if you cool, you talented, and you gay? We can rock, ni–a! We can drink, we can smoke, we can laugh. But don’t try and bring that shit over here. I like titties. I like titties. I like titties. I like two pair, I like four pair of titties at one time.”

15 WAYS TO LIVE TO BE 100 WHEN YOU HAVE HIV

15 ways to live to be 100 when you have HIV
[Image Credit: Osayi O. by Sean Gomes Photography]

HIV prevention, raising awareness, and fighting discrimination are three causes dear to my heart, which is why I discuss the chronic illness so much on SchoneSeelen. Since 2005, I along with several friends of mine, have raised money for AIDS research, and participated in the AIDS Walk New York. Those funds combined with donations from others, currently sum up to over 4-million dollars in online donations alone and have not gone to waste as people with HIV are living longer than ever.

In addition to taking part in the AIDS Walk, I have taught informative classes on HIV, mentored those who are having a hard time dealing with their diagnosis, and volunteer at NJAS where I work directly with clients, provide program coverage, transportation, prepare meals, offer skill instruction, share my professional services, clerical support and community outreach.

An HIV diagnosis was once a death sentence, but that is no longer the case for those of us who stay healthy. In fact, the average HIV-positive person today is expected to live to be nearly 80, roughly on par with the general population. As more and more people reaching the century mark, here's a list of the best things you can do — besides adhering to your medication regimen — that'll help you have a long, healthy life.

1-KEEP YOUR HEAD IN THE GAME
Depression, stress, and anxiety are tough for people to overcome, but these conditions can also harm your immune system. Psychotherapist Melissa Lopez works with her HIV-positive patients to develop a plan once their moods start to sour.

''When you're already working with a compromised immune system, pre-depression or anxiety can bring on a lack of motivation,'' she says, which can lead to people slacking on their meds. Lopez suggests finding a professional counselor, especially when you're first diagnosed with HIV, to form a plan to deal with anxiety, depression, or other negative feelings. '

'Know the symptoms of depression, know the symptoms of anxiety, so you know what's happening to you,'' she says. ''You have to be proactive to prevent another, deeper cycle of depression.''

2-BEAT BACK THE BLUES
Even when things don't seem like they're going your way, looking at things with a positive attitude may be enough to help you get through a tough situation, and even live longer. One study indicated that people in their 20s who used mostly positive, affirmative words to describe themselves were more likely to live into their 80s than those with negative outlooks. Additionally, people with a more positive view of life tend to have fewer strokes, coronary problems, injuries, and colds, and positive-thinking women have healthier pregnancies.

3-NURTURE YOUR GUT
The lymphoid tissues in a person's stomach are filled with T cells. Because HIV affects T cells, many people with HIV have gastrointestinal problems, but a healthy GI tract is crucial to proper absorption of antiretroviral medication. Some anti-HIV meds need to be taken with food to assure this absorption and avoid potential side effects such as diarrhea. Many HIV-positive folks could also benefit from probiotics and a high-fiber diet, APLA's expert Brian Risley says.

4-SHAKE YOUR GROOVE THING
Exercise helps control your weight, fights cardiovascular disease, and lets you look fantastic in an old pair of jeans, but it can also help boost your T cells. Brian Risley, the manager for treatment education at AIDS Project Los Angeles, says some studies have shown that moderate activity, even in short bursts, spurs an uptick in T-cell counts, even when it doesn't have a serious effect on viral load. Exercise can also help you feel better between your ears.

Says Lopez: ''Exercise is beneficial because we produce hormones that help calm us down when we exercise.'' According to the Mayo Clinic, most people should aim for at least 30 minutes of physical activity each day.

''Walk, go to the gym, dance around your house,'' Lopez adds. ''Anything is good, as long as it makes you feel good.''

5-LISTEN TO YOUR INNER MUSIC
Loss of brain function is often a difficult side effect of both HIV and aging. Galina Mindlin, MD, coauthor of Your Playlist Can Change Your Life, has created Brain Music Therapy, a method of converting a person's brain waves into music to help them concentrate, sleep, and deal with stress or depression. But, says Mindlin, your medulla oblongata doesn't need to be the next Mozart to benefit from music. Any song from your playlist that calms you can be Kayne West, Ozzy Osbourne, or Native American flute solos can help you rewrire your brain and change your behavior in as little as two weeks if you play it twice a day for five minutes.

6-GET JIGGY WITH IT
Orgasms can be wonder drugs in themselves: They help you sleep, boost your immunoglobulin levels (which fight infections), and reduce stress and depression. So get it on once or twice a week, just don't forget to play safe.

7-HAVE A LITTLE FAITH
No matter if you worship in a cathedral, a temple, or on the sofa, most physicians believe that some form of spirituality can help people better cope with their health problems. Religion can also help you build their social circle and feel generally more positive.

8-MAKE FRIENDS--NOT JUST THE ONLINE KIND
Having strong relationships with other people can be a matter of life or death. A joint review by Brigham Young University and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill of existing research on the topic found that people with weak social connections were 50% more likely to die in the research's follow-up period ''an average of 7.5 years'' than their peers with strong social bonds. To fight feelings of loneliness, Lopez encourages joining support groups for people with HIV or finding friends or family members you can depend on to let you vent to every once in a while.

''Do not isolate yourself, and don't make [HIV] a secret,'' Lopez says. ''I always think that clients, no matter how long they've been living with HIV, should find other people to talk to.''

9-KICK THE HABIT FOR GOOD
It's common knowledge that cigarettes are bad for everyone, but an estimated 60% of HIVers still smoke.

''In the beginning, when people had an AIDS diagnosis and they were given eight to 16 months to live, we overlooked their smoking habit,'' Risley says. As people are living longer, it's important to remember that smoking may cause mitochondrial infections'mitochondria are an energy-producing feature of human cells. Also, some people with HIV have a heightened susceptibility to cardiovascular disease, and smoking compounds that risk. Plus, of course, there's smoking's association with lung cancer.

10-TAKE YOUR VITAMINS
Many doctors recommend their patients take a general multivitamin to supplement their diet, but HIVers can also benefit from supplements like selenium, which has been shown to boost immunity in HIV patients while suppressing level of virus in the body. Other helpful supplements include vitamin D and calcium for bone health, and iron to fight anemia, especially for menstruating women. Still, those with HIV should also be careful of some supplements that might have averse reactions to antiretroviral treatment. Risley says Saint-John's-wort, for example, does not mix well with antiretrovirals or some other drugs, like statins, which lower one's cholesterol. Talk with your doctor, then take your Flintstones.

11-GET TESTY
People tend to experience a drop in testosterone levels once they advance past the age of 50, but HIV can also lead to a sharper drop in the hormone. Constant fatigue can be an indication that the virus is affecting your testosterone. While some doctors may write you off as just being tired from having the virus, Risley says both men and women should insist on being tested for chronic testosterone loss if fatigue is a persistent problem. If your levels are low, you and your doctor may want to consider testosterone replacement therapy to help you stay alert.

12-SKIP THE SUSHI
When your T-cell count goes below 200, you become more susceptible to bacterial infections. Risley suggests avoiding raw foods like sushi or oysters, which may contain fungi or bacteria. You should also avoid soft cheeses made from unpasteurized milk (Brie, Camembert) and any with mold (Roquefort or other blue cheeses). All meats should be well cooked, and leftovers should be refrigerated immediately or tossed out. Risley also suggests the same cooking method for those who use medicinal marijuana. ''I've heard a few doctors who tell their patients who smoke marijuana, to nuke it in the microwave for 30 seconds,'' he says. ''That kills a lot of the trace bacteria or fungus that may remain on the plant.''

13-HOS DOWN YOUR VEGGIES
Even if thinking about all the hands that have touched your produce from the farm to your table doesn't give you the willies, Risley suggests using a fruit- and vegetable-specific spray to clean raw produce. Even better, you can make your own veggie wash, one part vinegar to three parts water. Wash, rinse, eat —what could be simpler?

14-BUILD YOUR OWN DREAM TEAM
Not everyone can afford a team of celebrity doctors, personal chefs, and expensive therapists, but most HIVers have access to qualified professionals at local HIV clinics and organizations. Consider talking to a nutritionist to find out which foods that are right for your needs as well as seeing a qualified counselor to determine a plan to strengthen your mental health. While professionals at private practices may unaffordable for some people, many offer a sliding fee scale, with the fee is based on what you can afford to pay. Don't be afraid to ask. Lopez also suggests doing some research to assure that a potential therapist has some understanding of HIV/AIDS, and any community or culture that you may also identify with, like Asian, African-American, Latino, or LGBT.

15-CONSIDER PERSONALIZED MEDS
One of the burgeoning trends in the medical field is personalized medicine for a patient based on their demographic information and genes. ''We're going to have a lot more genetic tests for people to specifically tailor medication,'' Risley says. ''We just assume that if you take this one particular medication, your body will absorb it, but not everyone has the same absorption capabilities.'' While genetically tailored treatment is not widespread, it may be soon. Talk to your doctor about developments regarding ailments such as depression, colorectal cancer, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
