8 MOST POWERFUL AFRICAN-AMERICAN CELEBRITY COMING OUTS OF 2013

8-most-powerful-african-american-celebrity-coming-outs-of-2013-schoneseelen

As thousands of African-American's who identify themselves as being lesbian, gay, bisexual, or transgender--struggle not only to find self acceptance, but acceptance from their loved ones, these public figures found the courage to proclaim their sexuality in 2013.

Having came out around the age of 17 to my friend and family, that moment of self-assurance remains one of the most freeing experiences of my life. Since then I have been able to live my life openly, and look those in the face who oppose same-sex relations without fear of judgment.

Here are eight of the most powerful African-American coming outs of 2013:

KELVIN ATKINSON
One of this year's courageous lawmakers, Nevada Senator Kelvin Atkinson (D-North Las Vegas) came out of the closet during a floor speech debating a bill that would repeal a constitutional provision passed by voters in 2002 banning same-sex marriage.

Said Atkinson: "I'm black. I'm gay...I know this is the first time many of you have heard me say that I am a black, gay male...If this hurts your marriage, then your marriage was in trouble in the first place."

MISTER CEE
Mister Cee, the hip hop producer and DJ from NYC's Hot 97 was wrapped up in a scandal in September involving the solicitation of a trans sex worker which led to his resignation (and eventual rescinding of that resignation) from the station. The controversy prompted him to address his fluid sexuality in a four-minute PSA about sexual health and STD testing for the AIDS Healthcare Foundation.

"The decision I've made this week to open up about my sexuality has definitely been the most difficult thing that I've ever had to do in my life. But I felt like this was the time to do it personally and professionally. For me, I felt worried about how my family would be affected, how my coworkers, and my friends, and even my fans would be affected by this decision, because in this hip hop community of ours, it's not cool to be gay. It's not cool to be bisexual. I felt that if I was to actually be honest about myself, that nobody would actually just want to deal with me anymore. But the more that I kept lying, and the more that I kept trying to deceive you and myself, the more that I was being more closed in, and not really being who I really am.

"I also realized that the more that I kept this secret, and kept lying, and kept trying to be deceitful to the people that I loved, I wasn't really helping myself, or anybody else that could need help out there. But with the grace of family and good friends around me, they made me feel comfortable to exercise my human right for sexual freedom, instead of finding myself being self-detained by discrimination, judgment, criticism, and even violence from my own community. Thank God that I have friends and family that's gonna hold me down and make sure that I'm alright. I got tired of lying and hiding. But I'm here to tell you today that you don't have to lie and hide no more about your sexual freedom."

JASON COLLINS
On April 29, boundaries in the sports world were shattered with the groundbreaking news that free agent Jason Collins is gay, making him not only the first openly gay player in the NBA, but in a major professional sport.

Sportsillustrated_collinsSaid Collins in a Sports Illustrated cover story:

I'm a 34-year-old NBA center. I'm black. And I'm gay.

I didn't set out to be the first openly gay athlete playing in a major American team sport. But since I am, I'm happy to start the conversation. I wish I wasn't the kid in the classroom raising his hand and saying, "I'm different." If I had my way, someone else would have already done this. Nobody has, which is why I'm raising my hand...

...Why am I coming out now? Well, I started thinking about this in 2011 during the NBA player lockout. I'm a creature of routine. When the regular season ends I immediately dedicate myself to getting game ready for the opener of the next campaign in the fall. But the lockout wreaked havoc on my habits and forced me to confront who I really am and what I really want. With the season delayed, I trained and worked out. But I lacked the distraction that basketball had always provided.

The revelation sparked a major conversation about out players in professional sports, prompting many pro players and officials to speak out in support of gay players and LGBT equality.

Collins even received a phone call from President Obama thanking him for his courage.

Collins's coming out has of late been shadowed by the fact that seven months later, he has still not been signed to a team, fueling speculation that his sexuality is at the root of his ongoing free agent status.

KEVIN GRAYSON
2013 was a huge year for out and proud athlete, both professionally and at the college level. Kevin Grayson, "one of the most decorated football players Central Virginia has ever seen" according to WTVR, came out of the closet shortly after, and perhaps inspired by, Jason Collins.

Said Grayson of his being gay:

"People didn’t believe it because I was an athlete. They’re like ‘Kevin plays football, he plays basketball he runs track–no way you know?’ Those are the types of things where if I could go back and say; ‘Why can’t I be an athlete? Why can’t I be a star player? Why can’t I be the guy making plays that helps my team win, and still on the flip side, be a gay male?’”

BRITTNEY GRINER
A three-time All-American center at Baylor who was the top pick in this year's WNBA draft, Brittney Griner spoke about her sexuality for the first time in an interview with SI.com in April.

Said Griner of her coming out:

"It really wasn't too difficult, I wouldn't say I was hiding or anything like that. I've always been open about who I am and my sexuality. So, it wasn't hard at all. If I can show that I'm out and I'm fine and everything's OK, then hopefully the younger generation will definitely feel the same way."

Shortly after coming out, Griner broke the WNBA dunks record in her first game.

EARVIN JOHNSON III
Magic Johnson's son Earvin, one of three children of the NBA legend, came out of the closet via a TMZ item in April when he and his boyfriend were filmed walking hand-in-hand on L.A.'s Sunset strip.

Shortly after the item appeared, Magic gave a lengthy interview to TMZ about his son.

"I think this is gonna be good for a lot of young black people who want to come out. EJ is really gonna help a lot of young people," he said, adding that as an owner of the Dodgers he would take care of any player who decided to come out on the team.

RAVEN SYMONE
Cosby Show actress Raven Symone ended years of speculation in August when she tweeted "I can finally get married! Yay government! So proud of you"

Symone had never said publicly if she was gay but addressed the rumors previously in response to a National Enquirer article that reported she was living with an America's Next Top Model contestant in New York City.

DARREN YOUNG
WWE superstar Darren Young flew out of the closet at the prompting of a TMZ paparazzo in August upon arriving at LAX, Young was asked by TMZ whether a gay man could succeed in the WWE to which Young responded, "Absolutely. Look at me. I’m a WWE superstar and, to be honest with you, I’m gay." The confession caught the camera-man off guard and Young made instant headlines, fueling the ongoing dialogue about gays in professional sports.

World Wrestling Entertainment, Inc. offered its support of Young following his statement: "[The] WWE is proud of Darren Young for being open about his sexuality, and we will continue to support him as a WWE Superstar."

HOW MANY MEN IN AMERICA ARE GAY

NY TIMES--WHAT percent of American men are gay? This question is notoriously difficult to answer. Historical estimates range from about 2 percent to 10 percent.

But somewhere in the exabytes of data that human beings create every day are answers to even the most challenging questions.

Using surveys, social networks, pornographic searches and dating sites, I recently studied evidence on the number of gay men. The data used in this analysis is available in highly aggregated form only and can be downloaded from publicly accessible sites. While none of these data sources are ideal, they combine to tell a consistent story.

At least 5 percent of American men, I estimate, are predominantly attracted to men, and millions of gay men still live, to some degree, in the closet. Gay men are half as likely as straight men to acknowledge their sexuality on social networks. More than one quarter of gay men hide their sexuality from anonymous surveys. The evidence also suggests that a large number of gay men are married to women.

There are three sources that can give us estimates of the openly gay population broken down by state: the census, which asks about same-sex households; Gallup, which has fairly large-sample surveys for every state; and Facebook, which asks members what gender they are interested in. While these data sources all measure different degrees of openness, one result is strikingly similar: All three suggest that the openly gay population is dramatically higher in more tolerant states, defined using an estimate by Nate Silver of support for same-sex marriage. On Facebook, for example, about 1 percent of men in Mississippi who list a gender preference say that they are interested in men; in California, more than 3 percent do.

Are there really so many fewer gay men living in less tolerant states?

There is no evidence that gay men would be less likely to be born in these states. Have many of them moved to more tolerant areas? Some have, but Facebook data show that mobility can explain only a small fraction of the difference in the totally out population. I searched gay and straight men by state of birth and state of current residence. (This information is available only for a subset of Facebook users.) Some gay men do move out of less tolerant states, but this effect is small. I estimate that the openly gay population would be about 0.1 percentage points higher in the least tolerant states if everyone stayed in place.

The percent of male high school students who identify themselves as gay on Facebook is also much lower in less tolerant areas. Because high school students are less mobile than adults, this suggests that a gay exodus from these areas is not a large factor.

We can approach the question of whether intolerant areas actually have fewer gay men another way, too, by estimating the percent of searches for pornography that are looking for depictions of gay men. These would include searches for such terms as “gay porn” or “Rocket Tube,” a popular gay pornographic site. I used anonymous, aggregate data from Google. The advantage of this data source, of course, is that most men are making these searches in private. (Women search, too, but in much smaller numbers.)

While tolerant states have a slightly higher percentage of these searches, roughly 5 percent of pornographic searches are looking for depictions of gay men in all states. This again suggests that there are just about as many gay men in less tolerant states as there are anywhere else.

Since less tolerant states have similar percentages of gay men but far fewer openly gay men, there is a clear relationship between tolerance and openness. My preliminary research indicates that for every 20 percentage points of support for gay marriage about one-and-a-half times as many men from that state will identify openly as gay on Facebook.

In a perfectly tolerant world, my model estimates that about 5 percent of men in the United States would say they were interested in men. Note that this matches nicely with the evidence from pornographic search data.

These results suggest that the closet remains a major factor in American life. For comparison, about 3.6 percent of American men tell anonymous surveys they are attracted to men and a tenth of gay men say that they do not tell most of the important people in their lives. In states where the stigma against homosexuality remains strong, many more gay men are in the closet than are out.

How deep in the closet are these men? Obviously, it is possible for a gay man not to acknowledge his sexuality to Facebook or surveys but to still have healthy, open same-sex relationships.

But data from Match.com, one of the country’s largest dating sites, which has high rates of membership for both straight and gay men, reveals a similarly large number of missing gay men in less tolerant states. This suggests that these men are not only not telling Facebook they are gay but are also not looking for relationships online.

Additional evidence that suggests that many gay men in intolerant states are deeply in the closet comes from a surprising source: the Google searches of married women. It turns out that wives suspect their husbands of being gay rather frequently. In the United States, of all Google searches that begin “Is my husband...,” the most common word to follow is “gay.” “Gay” is 10 percent more common in such searches than the second-place word, “cheating.” It is 8 times more common than “an alcoholic” and 10 times more common than “depressed.”

Searches questioning a husband’s sexuality are far more common in the least tolerant states. The states with the highest percentage of women asking this question are South Carolina and Louisiana. In fact, in 21 of the 25 states where this question is most frequently asked, support for gay marriage is lower than the national average.

Craigslist lets us look at this from a different angle. I analyzed ads for males looking for “casual encounters.” The percentage of these ads that are seeking casual encounters with men tends to be larger in less tolerant states. Among the states with the highest percentages are Kentucky, Louisiana and Alabama.

There is, in other words, a huge amount of secret suffering in the United States that can be directly attributed to intolerance of homosexuality.

SOMETIMES even I get tired of looking at aggregate data, so I asked a psychiatrist in Mississippi who specializes in helping closeted gay men if any of his patients might want to talk to me. One man contacted me. He told me he was a retired professor, in his 60s, married to the same woman for more than 40 years.

About 10 years ago, overwhelmed with stress, he saw the therapist and finally acknowledged his sexuality. He has always known he was attracted to men, he says, but thought that that was normal and something that men hid. Shortly after beginning therapy, he had his first, and only, gay sexual encounter, with a student of his in his late 20s, an experience he describes as “wonderful.”

He and his wife do not have sex. He says that he would feel guilty ever ending his marriage or openly dating a man. He regrets virtually every one of his major life decisions.

The retired professor and his wife will go another night without romantic love, without sex. Despite enormous progress, the persistence of intolerance will cause millions of other Americans to do the same.

Jonn Hart has been silent for some time after releasing the visual for the bedroom banger "Slip N Slide." However two-months later the Bay-area crooner is back with this new single titled "Fed Up" where he vents his frustrations with girls.

"Bitch, what? What the fuck? / And if you second guessin', then you gotta cut / Bitch, what? What the fuck? / You got a real nigga fed up."

With some extra help from Rayven Justice and Rossi, Hart tells his former lady that he's done with her over some DJ Mustard-esque production (it's actually produced by  Astroknotts). The track will find a home on Jonn Hart's upcoming mixtape, Heart 2 Hart 2, due out in 2014, the followup to his Heart 2 Hart mixtape.

ARE GAY MEN SCARED OF MONOGAMY

$

MARK BRENNAN ROSENBERG: HUFFINGTON POST--In a recent blog post I wrote on The Huffington Post, "8 Things Gay Men Need to Stop Saying," I listed "Do you want to sleep with other people?" as one of the things that gay men need to erase from their phraseology. My tongue-in-cheek look at gay culture, which was meant to be taken with a grain of salt, created a maelstrom, with hundreds of people tweeting and responding to this one specific question that has come out of the mouths of so many gay men.

"Don't tell me how to be in a relationship."

"Why are you dissing open relationships?"

"I will do what I want with my partner."

These were several of the (more polite) messages I received once the blog post went viral and people all over the world were responding to it. It even sparked a discussion of HuffPost Live -- "Queer Monogamy: All It's Cracked Up To Be?" -- in which I participated. I seemed to be the only person in the discussion who truly believed that gay male relationships should be monogamous, and in a Carrie Bradshaw moment, I thought to myself, "With all this opposition to gay monogamy, are gay men simply scared of monogamy?"

I honestly don't care what people do behind closed doors. I come from the old school: What you do in your own bedroom is your own business. But with gay couples fighting for the right to marry in every state in the country, why on Earth would this conversation come up? Isn't it an oxymoron? Don't we want straight people to understand that we want what they want? Whether or not they partake in open relationships or threesomes as their gay counterparts do, they certainly don't talk about it as openly as we do. So to me, the gay community is essentially saying, "We are fighting to have the same rights that you have, but we are going to continue to sleep with people outside our relationship and partake in threeways, because we can, and it's our right to do whatever we want." You're trying to make a case for equality, but it doesn't seem that you want to adapt; you'd rather rewrite the rules, even though marriage usually involves only two people in the boudoir. In fact, sleeping with someone outside your marriage is usually grounds for divorce.

I've thought about this topic a lot, and I discussed it with a friend over dinner the other night. We sat down next to a friend of his, who was dining with his best friend Jim. Aside from Jim, everyone at the table was in a long-term relationship. Jim moaned about the trials and tribulations of dating in New York and how difficult it is to find a quality boyfriend. When I asked him how he was looking, he told me that he rarely goes to mixers or parties; instead, he uses Tinder and Grindr to search for a boyfriend. Mind you, I do believe that these apps can be useful (mainly for hooking up or connecting guys in rural areas who do not have a safe place to congregate), but I do not believe that either is useful for finding true love.

My friend and I told Jim that we may be able to connect him with one of our friends, and when we asked him what he was looking for in a guy, he regaled us with a long list of physical attributes. He had designed the perfect-looking man in his mind. However, when I asked what he was really looking for in a man, personality-wise, the only thing he could come up with was, "Someone funny." Everyone wants someone with a good sense of humor. But really? When I asked him if he would like me to put him in touch with Mixology, a completely offline matchmaking service strictly for gays, he told me, "No, thank you. I have all I need to find a beau, and it's in my pocket," referring to the apps on his mobile phone. I went on to speak about Mixology's success rate with matching people offline based on personal interests and education; in fact, they withhold photos of people's potential matches in order to match them based on personality rather than looks. But he wanted no part of it.

To me, it seemed that this man was frightened of monogamy. He would rather sift through thousands of photos every day, searching for the perfect-looking man rather than the perfect man for him. Everyone wants a perfect-looking mate, but if that perfect-looking mate has shit for brains, then it's back to the drawing board, and the cycle essentially beings again.

Afterwards, I went straight to Meghann Novinskie, a woman I have great respect for. She has helped me through a relationship crisis or two, and she has years of experience working in the dating industry. She is also the relationship expert and one of the brains behind Mixology.

"There is a place for Tinder and Grindr in our culture," she told me, "but not for those who are actually looking for relationships. Tinder and Grindr aren't the place to search for a soul mate. They're more of a distraction, if anything, if you're looking for a partner."

So if people are using those apps to look for a relationship and it's clearly not working out, why do they continue to do the same thing over and over again, expecting a different result?

"Relationships can be scary," Meghann said, "and I believe that some people use those apps to [postpone] really trying to be in a relationship, potentially because they are scared of settling down. Plenty of my clients have confessed to using Grindr, and there is nothing wrong with that, but they come to me once they have gotten it out of their system and are ready for something meaningful and special rather than a one-night tryst. It could also be the fact that until recently, gay relationships and marriages haven't been as accepted as straight marriages, so it potentially hasn't been in the minds of many gay men to settle down until recently."

As we continue to fight for the right to marry in every state while also trying to redefine relationships to make nonmonogamy acceptable, it leaves many in the gay community confused. I know plenty of gay couples who are in happy, healthy relationships who don't cheat or partake in threesomes, but I also know many who do. Why is the gay community now trying to redefine what a relationship between two men or two women should entail?

"I have always had the firm belief that if you find someone that you really love, the question of 'do you want to sleep with other people?' rarely comes up," Meghann told me. "But if it does, have a plan. Are you OK with this? Or not? What's the plan if you're not game for the shift from monogamy to 'monogamish,' as Dan Savage likes to say?"

Certainly, some straight men and women cheat on each other or have open relationships or threesomes, so it's a wonder that we don't hear about it more often. And it's a wonder to me that gay men are so vocal about their open relationships and their need to redefine relationships on their terms if they also want the same rights as everyone else.

I suppose it all comes down to personal preference. I prefer to be in a monogamous relationship with my boyfriend, but many other gay men do not. However, it seems to me that if we want our relationships and marriages to be accepted by our straight counterparts, then maybe it's time to keep a lid on what exactly it is that we do behind closed doors. Maybe it's just no one's business.

During the 90's you could not turn on your radio without hearing the "Sisters With Voices," SWVCheryl "Coko" ClemensLeanne "LeLee" Lyons, and Tamara "Taj" Johnson-George dominated Billboard with classics such as "Right Here/Human Nature,""I'm So Into You,""Anything,""You're the One,""Weak," and countless others until their split in 98'.

The group's golden-voiced lead singer Coko went on to pursue a solo career, but did not fair so well. She went back to her roots and released her first gospel album Grateful in 2006, followed by its 2009 followup The Winner In Me.

Last year SWV returned with a new album I Missed Us. The album went straight to #1 on the iTunes R&B albums chart. A year later they are still together and joining the likes of The Braxtons and gospel group Mary Mary on WE TV for their own reality show. According to the networks' senior vice president of original production and development, Lauren Gellert:
"These dynamic women experienced enormous success together, then it all fell apart. United again, the stakes are higher than ever, and so – at times – is the drama and tension. We can’t wait to present this fresh, new series to WE tv viewers."
In this teaser, Coko, Taj and Lelee reunite once again in this new WEtv reality series. Despite their excitement to be together again, the members of SWV still wrestle with the same interpersonal issues that split them apart in the first place. Coko tells Taj that she’s felt the need to put a wall up between them for 20 years. Taj and Lelee discover that Coko has breast cancer. The group flirts with the idea of a new manager, upsetting their current one. The reality show premieres January 23, 2013.

LETOYA LUCKETT
She has released some of the most popular songs, appeared in acclaimed film, television and stage projects, and excelled as a business owner. Indeed, LeToya Luckett's remarkable versatility and wide-ranging talent have made her a renowned figure in entertainment.

The Houston native has enjoyed tremendous success as a solo artist. LeToya's self-titled debut album "LeToya" was certified platinum and included the No. 1 hit "Torn" and "She Don't". LeToya was named "One of the Best New Artists of 2006" by AOL Music and was awarded as a "Top Songwriter of 2006" by ASCAP for "Torn". Her 2009 collection, "Lady Love", debuted as the No. 1 album on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart and featured the Top 10 single "Regret" with Ludacris, as well as such standout selections as "She Ain't Got..." and "Not Anymore". Additionally, "Regret" was named to AOL Music's "Top R&B Songs of 2009" and Billboard's "Top R&B Songs of 2010".

When she was only 5 and to her surprise, LeToya was given the opportunity to sing her first solo in her own church. "The lady just gave me the mic one Sunday and I sang," says LeToya, whose name is described as "victorious one". "Right after that, I joined the children's choir and started doing all the school plays. I saw that I had a love for music."

Soon after, LeToya pursued her newfound passion and became an integral member of Destiny's Child. LeToya remained with the group for seven years and accomplished numerous successes, most notably becoming a two-time GRAMMY Award winner. During her stint, the group released the gold-certified singles "Bills Bills Bills" and "Say My Name", both of which LeToya co-wrote on their astonishing sophomore album, "The Writing's On The Wall", which has sold over 17 million copies worldwide.

LeToya has been in the studio recording her highly-anticipated third album, which is set to release in 2014. The album is constructed of very accomplished producers and songwriters and proves to be a versatile collection of work that explores new musical elements while staying true to LeToya. Additionally, she is the new host of Centric's "CultureList" that premiered July 21st. LeToya has also been chosen as a lead cast member of the VH1 hit "Single Ladies". The new season is slated to premier in early 2014.

LeToya's current moves in television arrive after a string of noteworthy stage, film and television projects. In 2010, LeToya made her film debut playing the lead character in the Warner Premiere film "Preacher's Kid". The film was released nationwide in select markets and has since become a top DVD seller in its genre. Later in 2010, LeToya had a supporting role in the romantic comedy "Killers", starring Aston Kutcher and Katherine Heigl.

Furthermore, LeToya's momentum continued in 2011 and 2012 with a recurring role on second and third seasons of the HBO TV series Treme. She also had a noteworthy role in the coming-of-age film Note To Self with Christian Keyes, Richard T. Jones and Clifton Powell. LeToya stars alongside Academy Award nominee Taraji P. Henson and Tom Felton ("Harry Potter") in "From the Rough" set to release in 2013. The film was inspired by the true story of Dr. Cantana Starks, the first female head coach of an NCAA Division 1 men's team. Also in 2013, LeToya had a recurring role on the new BET TV series "Second Generation Wayans," starred in the new GMC TV series "For Richer or Poorer" and appears in the forthcoming film "The Concerto" with Janel Parrish and Jackson Rathbone.

Now, with several television projects in motion and a new album on the way, LeToya still has the world saying her name as she progresses as a woman, artist, actor, entertainer and entrepreneur. "You have to stay true to yourself while also keeping up with the trends in music and this industry," she says. "I think a lot of people start to lose themselves because people have opinions and they become insecure. But you've got to stick to the real reason you wanted to become an artist."

Mission accomplished for LeToya Luckett.

LESLEY-ANN BRANDT
Born and raised in Cape Town, South Africa, Lesley-Ann Brandt has become one of the biggest South African exports via New Zealand after immigrating to Auckland with her parents and brother in 1999. With her mixed ethnic background, Lesley-Ann is Hollywood's exciting new discovery.

As a child, she participated in almost every kindergarten and school play and was a natural singer. It was when she starting modeling and booking TV commercials that she caught the eye of casting directors. Encouraged by them, she began studying the Meisner technique as well as doing every possible acting workshop she could find and after only a few months her natural ability to perform, take direction and work with the camera saw her commercial auditions shift towards television and film auditions.

Lesley-Ann was discovered by local New Zealand producer Chris Hampson and creator/writer James Griffen (Siones Wedding, Outrageous Fortune, The Almighty Johnsons) who were on the hunt for the leading lady of their quirky new half hour comedy "Diplomatic Immunity". They'd been searching for an actress for months and were 3 weeks away from shooting when Lesley-Ann auditioned. She was hired within a week, had to quit her job as an IT recruitment consultant and went on to star opposite Craig Parker (of "Spartacus", "Lord of the Rings" and "Underworld: Rise of the Lycans"), quickly moving her into the hearts of the New Zealand nation.

In 2010 Brandt commanded the world take notice with her role as Naevia in the breakout Starz hit, "Spartacus: Blood and Sand". Naevia, the beautiful slave girl who's story with Manu Bennett's character Crixus emerged as the show's big love story, created a fan frenzy worldwide.

Working with producers Sam Raimi, Rob Tapert and actors John Hannah ("The Mummy" and "Four Weddings and a Funeral"), Peter Mensah ("300" and "Avatar"), Lucy Lawless ("Xena"), Lesley-Ann captivated audiences with her performance, and became one of the shows break out stars.

Lesley-Ann continued to work on back to back projects, "This Is Not My Life" (2010) and ABC's "Legend of the Seeker" (2010) as well as her feature film debut Insight starring opposite Natalie Zea and Christopher Lloyd.

In 2011 she resurrected her role as Naevia in the prequel season of "Spartacus: Gods of the Arena". Roles on "Chuck", "CSI: New York" (recurring) and TNT's "Memphis Beat" soon followed as well as a lead role in Syfy's highest rated original feature for 2011 "Zombie Apocalypse" starring opposite Ving Rhames and Taryn Manning.

Lesley-Ann has been named as one of 2013's faces to watch in film by South Africa's largest newspaper publication City Press. This year she can be seen in the much anticipated feature film "Drift" starring opposite Sam Worthington ("Avatar", "Terminator: Salvation") and Xavier Samuel ("Twilight: Eclipse, Anonymous") as well as the dark comedy, "Killing Winston Jones" starring opposite Richard Dreyfuss, Danny Masterson, Danny Glover, Jon Heder and directed by Joel David Moore ("Avatar", "Dodgeball").

Lesley-Ann is now permanently based in Los Angeles.

NEW YORK DAILY NEWS--A black fashion student says he was brutally attacked by a gang of Hasidic men who shouted anti-gay slurs at him while he was walking through Williamsburg after a night of partying, the Daily News has learned.
Taj Patterson, 22, was headed home to Fort Greene around 4:30 a.m. on Dec. 1 when he says more than a dozen ultra-Orthodox Jewish men began assaulting him on Flushing Ave. and yelling, “Stay down, faggot!”

“I’m walking down some block by myself and then the next thing I know, I’m surrounded by a group of Hasidic Jewish men and they’re attacking me,” Patterson said. “I was alone. I was an easy target. I’m black. I’m gay, a whole slew of reasons.”

The New York City College of Technology student left for a fun night out with friends, and returned with a broken eye socket, a torn retina, blood clotting, and cuts and bruises to his knee and ankles.

He was rushed to Woodhull Hospital and is expected to undergo surgery to reattach his retina.
The NYPD confirmed Monday night that the hate crimes unit is investigating the assault.

Patterson was “highly intoxicated, uncooperative and incoherent,” after the assault, according to a police complaint — but he remembers the ringleader.

“There was a crowd around him, cheering him on and getting him rowdy, and he would grab me and push me against the wall,” Patterson said.

While the instigator was kicking him in the face, “he told me to ‘stay down, faggot, stay the fuck down,’ ” Patterson recalled. “And that’s really all I can remember of that.”

Evelyn Keys, an MTA bus driver, was rounding the corner of Flushing Ave. and Spencer St. when she saw the horrific attack unfold before her eyes.

“I get out of the bus and all these men were standing up straight around him,” says Keys. “Taj is laying down on his back. I went up to him and he was in so much pain. He says, ‘I can’t see . . . I can’t breathe.’ ”
Patterson’s mother, Zahra Patterson, 52, said she now fears for her son’s safety.

“I mean, we’ve been living in this community for close to 30 years, so you’re telling me my son can’t walk there anymore?” she said. “You cannot attack people walking down the street.”

Bobby Vreleased his stellar new EP Peach Moon this week, and in promotion of the release he stopped by The Breakfast Club on Power 105.1 for a new interview.

The R&B star spoke about reinventing himself with a new sound and style, taking a more creative and soulful approach to music now, and why he has decided to take this direction as the next progression of his career. Speaking about creating music with all live instruments and a more authentic feeling versus just attempting to make a “hit” record, he stated, “I’ll make records for radio, but they will still have this vibe and feel to it. I want to be around forever ya know, I want to do shows outside of the club.”

He spoke about wanting to get into reality TV in a positive manner (even though he was the person who afforded Rasheeda's husband Kirk the opportunity to cheat), with his own family, who are mostly all successful professionals in different fields. Bobby envisions it as something similar to The Cosby Show, where they would deal with their daily dramas and issues, but at the end of the day they would work it out positively. In addition Bobby spoke about his carjacking from earlier this year, the rumored sex tape a girl was blackmailing him over, but got back to the music and talked about becoming a piano player, songwriter and producer. He also revealed that he tried out for the first season of American Idol, after his days in the boy group Mista, but was turned down by Simon Cowell, Randy and Paula.

As Lucio begins to disrobe Gerardo’s towel drops and Lucio begins to suck on Gerardo’s thick, meaty cock that is accentuated by his silver power ring. Lucio is servicing his cock with a generous coating of saliva as it pushes its way down Lucio’s throat. Gerardo lies down on the bed and Lucio feeds him his huge cock, stuffing his mouth and throat full of pleasure. Lucio lubes up Gerardo’s pink hole with his saliva and then begins jabbing his cock in and out of his hungry hole teasing his hole as each jab ventures a little deeper until Lucio is pounding him completely. Gerardo flips Lucio up onto his cock as Lucio spreads his ass open for Gerardo to go deeper and harder. As Gerardo bangs away at Lucio’s wet hole, Lucio takes his straining cock in his hand and strokes it with pleasure as the sensation of ecstasy is building deep within him.

Lucio then takes control of the pounding and rides Gerardo until his cock can no longer contain his massive eruption of cum. Gerardo continues fucking Lucio’s ass until he explodes his milky load all over his abs. Just because you shower doesn’t mean you can’t be dirty.
